Our Story & Vision
In 2013, the Gene Duffy Foundation was founded. Dr Mike Duffy (Gene’s son) founded the organization with the intent of continuing his dad’s legacy of providing dignity to those struggling with addiction.
The purpose of the Gene Duffy Foundation is to promote education and research about drug and alcohol addiction and to provide assistance for the treatment of these addictions.
Our vision for the Gene Duffy Foundation is to provide initiatives that address alcoholism and substance abuse issues while providing greater access to high quality, effective treatment for people already in the grips of alcoholism and/or substance abuse. The three major areas of focus are education, treatment, and research.
Dr. Michael Duffy
Chairman of the Board
As Gene’s middle son, Dr. Mike witnessed the devastating effects of alcoholism, as well as the restorative power of recovery. Dr. Mike has a passion for serving others, especially those struggling with addiction. He’s served as a chaplain at the Keeneland Racetrack and Thoroughbred Training Center and as President of Duffy’s Napa Valley.
Growing up in a family impacted by substance abuse and behavioral health issues, Kim knows what it’s like to deal with the challenges brought on by addiction. Her experience has instilled in her a passion for sharing messages of hope and recovery to those struggling with addiction. When not working you may find Kim and her dog Fletcher (a certified pet therapy dog) encouraging people at the local hospital.
Mick is Gene’s oldest grandson. He served as President of Duffy’s Napa Valley, as well as in pastoral leadership. Mick currently serves as the CEO of New Legacy Recovery.
